,All about us
The Fireflies Choir began in 2009 with 20 ladies and start-up funding from 'Big Lottery Family Arts Project'. From those humble beginnings we have grown to 60 members across North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral, and are now self-funded. Due to our increased size we have recently relocated to new rehearsal space at the Salvation Army, however we still retain strong links with our first home at the Ellesmere Port Fire station and often host smaller gatherings there.
We sing for our own pleasure and the pleasure of our audience and have a wide repertoire of 4 part harmony music, both accompanied and a capella, featuring songs from the 60s and 70s as well as traditional, gospel, jazz and current music. We have performed at private and public events in local, community and prestigious venues - from residential care homes to Chester's Big Sing, Chester Cathedral and the BBC. We have been privileged more recently to be invited to sing at weddings, including that of our musical director Georgina Locke.
